Filtration

One effective way to remove indoor air pollutants is to filter them out of the indoor air you breathe. The fibrous material of an air filter traps solid particulates such as dust, pollen, mold and bacteria. These particles range in size from 10 micrometers (just barely visible to the naked eye) to 0.3 micrometers or even smaller. Filtration systems are measured by a rating called MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value).  The higher the MERV rating, the greater the ability of the filter to capture smaller particles. A MERV of 16 captures about 95 percent of these particles.

Portable air purifiers remove contaminants from the air, but only in a single room. In addition, filters must be changed frequently, and infrequent and/or improper maintenance can actually lead to the creation of air pollutants. The most effective filtration is a whole-home air cleaner.

When the heating or cooling equipment turns on, the air in your home travels through the registers and return duct(s) to the heating and cooling equipment, where it is conditioned and sent back into the rooms of your house through the supply ducts. Small particles (e.g., pollen, smoke, cooking exhaust, animal dander, viral bacteria) from numerous sources are suspended in your home’s air. The largest of these particles will eventually come to rest and appear as dust. Smaller particles may also come to rest as dust, but with even the slightest disturbance will re-suspend into the air. An air cleaner installed on or near your furnace/air handler removes these particles that travel from the air that circulates through your heating and cooling system. A TrueCLEANAir™  whole-home air cleaning solution captures about 90 percent of these particles. This not only keeps the particles our of the air you are breathing throughout the house, it helps your heating and air conditioning system work more efficiently and keeps equipment components cleaner.

Why do you need a Whole-Home Air Cleaner?
There are portable single room cleaners.  There are two immediate problems: 1) they only work in one room, and most likely your house has more than one room; and 2) well, they are portable, you could take them from one room, but that’s hardly convenient or efficient.  Now, you could get a unit for each room.  But that’s a bit expensive, both in terms of the initial purchase but also overall energy consumption. However, there’s an even bigger set of problems:

  • Portable units require frequent cleaning and maintenance. Ironically, if not properly maintained, the very units you bought to protect you and your family may wind up health hazard because contaminants can grow and proliferate in improperly maintained portable units.

  • Portable units are oftentimes noisy and can be unattractive and obtrusive to your living space.

In contrast, a whole-home air cleaner solution alleviates not only your IAQ problem, but the problems of portable units.  The advantages are:

  • whole-home products treat every room of your home

  • whole-home solutions require infrequent cleaning and maintenance; air cleaner filters require changing every 6 months to 2 years depending on the model and how often the unit is run; they have no standing water and therefore no buckets to clean or empty

  • installed directly to your heating and cooling system, whole-home products are out-of-sight and away from living spaces, working silently and automatically

  • whole-home solutions actually improve the energy efficiency of your heating and air conditioning system

Whole-home air cleaner filters need only be changed at most every 6 months, though in some models they can last up to two years!  All you have to do to breath easier is to just sit back, relax and breathe easier.  There’s hardly anything for you to worry about; a TrueCLEANAir™  solution does all the work for you and provides a completely worry-free atmosphere!
